The Learning Management System or better known as the Learning Management System (LMS) that is being implemented is a collaboration project between the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) and the Malaysian Administrative Modernization and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU).

A learning management system is a web-based software application system designed to manage learning content, student interactions, assessment tools, and feedback on learning progress and activities.

This LMS can help students to access learning information in the form of course guidelines, upload assignments and download lecture notes, actively interact between students with lecturers and students with students and students with learning materials, share knowledge, and take exams and quizzes online (Jurubescu, 2008).

#1 Learning Management System (LMS)

Learning Management System (LMS MEANING) is widely used in schools and institutions of higher learning. This is because, this system has various advantages to students and organizations. Given that contemporary learning is very concerned with accurate, up -to -date and easily accessible information, the LMS system is seen as a system that plays an important role in contemporary learning.

In fact, in the field of education, the information that needs to be conveyed is very much and requires a systematic system so that the production and delivery of the information is organized and smooth. For example, information related to students, staff and school management happens too much in a day and needs to be communicated quickly.

Tools for learning skills

Tools for learning skills are like learning modules which are to create activities and learning materials for students. This equipment includes quizzes, online presentation materials, and assignments. This presentation material only needs to be uploaded to the learning management system or by presenting the material from a web site link such as youtube (Agus, 2009).

For assignments, the lecturer will upload the assignment in the LMS and students will create the assignment online and they can compose it or submit the assignment repeatedly until the completion date of submitting the assignment.

The second category is communication tools in which these communication tools allow interaction to take place between lecturers and students, and students with students. A common communication tool is an announcement, where this tool is used to provide any information regarding the course including the latest news and upcoming activities to all students of the course.

In addition, discussion is also included as a communication tool where this tool allows students and lecturers to both convey and reply to messages and read comments from other users.

Lastly are the productivity tools in the LMS which include document management systems, calendars, questionnaires and so on. This document management system allows lecturers and students to upload and download files from any computer connected to the internet. Some LMSs allow students to view overall progress reports such as grades for each assignment, quiz and test.

#1 Learning Management System (LMS)

  •    One of the key features of the learning management system LMS is that users can place course materials online. Buttons for programming syllabi or course content, course schedules and course materials associated with specific lessons such as reading copies and ‘power point slides’ from lectures have been provided by most LMSs. Instructors can track student progress through assessment features. They can also give quizzes and tests online and put student grades in the online grade book.

  • In addition, the LMS has the feature to be a communication tool. Instructors can make announcements to the class and connect students individually by applying the LMS. Students can also send messages and notices in it. They can store class materials either for a presentation to be held in a later class or make a second copy for class assignments in a safe place with the existence of a Lock box.

  • Next, the time and place to do the learning is flexible. This allows students to manage their own time more effectively and productively. LMS involves cost -effective use. Effective online learning allows students to explore new information through digital libraries or websites. Students also have the opportunity to discuss and share information with experts or experienced lecturers from the university or any area simply by using email through the use of LMS.

  • In addition, another feature of LMS is that LMS centralizes learning and teaching strategies. This is said so because LMS has an important role in academic activities, teaching and learning and administrative management system in the world of administration. We can install and deliver the core of learning quickly and accurately. Not only that, the integration of training methods on a scalable web -based platform can be simplified. The LMS is tailored to the content and allows for the reuse of knowledge as well as being a kind of mobile of support and standards.

Information is useful if the information is accurate, neat and easy to obtain. The implementation of this learning management system brings many benefits to students and organizations. This shows that a systematic information management system can play a role in learning today.

Inefficient management will result in unproductive work. Therefore, this learning management system is much needed. One of the benefits of this system is to allow students to share information with external parties. Overall, the following is the importance of a learning management system.
